Beyoncé finally talks about her marriage with rap mogul Jay Z in November’s issue of Essence magazine.

She explains why she and her husband never discussed their relationship to the media, and their reasons actually make a lot of sense: the less information you give them, the less they can make up about you; and even if they do, it doesn’t hold because they don’t have enough information to begin with.

Another important thing to them is to control the image they want to project.  By giving little or no information at all, they are able to control the brand/the image they are marketing.

But above all, it’s important to them to separate their personal life from their public image: “What Jay and I have is real,” says the diva.  “It’s not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It’s real.”

And when asked why a small wedding at Jay-Z’s New York penthouse apartment, she bragged about how she didn’t ‘need’ her day to be a big day since it’s been ‘her day’ so many times already.
