Haitian-born musician Wyclef Jean, actor Matt Damon and former Canadian ambassador Frank McKenna decided to go help themselves in Haiti.
Thousands of people left with nothing after 4 hurricanes (Fay, Gustav, Hanna and Ike) teared up the country these past weeks. Over 800 000 people (300 000 of them being children) lost almost everything.
They are in Haiti giving out rice, cooking oil, water and beans to the needy.
McKenna, who is now a chairman of Canadian Charity ONEXONE, told CTV Newsnet: “These floods just tore into these villages that just weren’t equipped to deal with it at all. Haitians have been without food and water for weeks and are surviving hour by hour.
ONEXONE has set up a website where people can get more information about how they can help but more than anything we just need the international community to understand this humanitarian disaster.”
