Former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM both survived a plane crash late last night. They were flying home to Van Nuys early after giving a free concert in columbia, South Carolina.
Chris Baker (29), Travis’ assistant, wanted to be in time early to be there in time when his wife would give birth. His wife was in labor since Friday morning. Unfortunately Baker died in the crash, along with the pilot Sara Lemmon (31), the co-pilot James Bland (52) and Barker’s bodyguard, Charles Still (25).

Barker and DJ AM saved their lives by jumping out of the burning plane. They both sustained extensive burns, Barker waist down and AM on his face. AM’s burns are so bad, he is currently under a oxygen tent to remain in a sterilized environment to avoid infection.
According to CNN, the first person to come to their rescue, “William Owens told WIS-TV he was driving down Highway 302 when he said he saw a fireball go across the road.
“I didn’t know what I had seen; it was maybe 800 feet in front of me, but as I approached it closer, though, I made out a fire. By then I was able to see the tail of the jet, and I recognized it as a jet. It’s in flames, and the fuel is running across the road, and I had to cross the fuel to get to the two guys that seemed to have been dumped on the highway. The two men were running around and pulling off clothing to put out the flames.”
Barker and AM are both in critical condition but are expected to live.
