Oprah says bye….but not for too long!
The world is reeling after news that Oprah Winfrey will be ending her 25 year run of The Oprah Winfrey show.
On her Friday show, the big O announced that she will be endingher super successful talk show in 2011. “This show has been my life and I love it enough to know when it’s time to say goodbye. Twenty-five years feels right in my bones, and it feels right in my spirit. It’s the perfect number, the exact right time,” she said on her show.
At age 55, Oprah is moving on from the show, but not from television neccessarily. Oprah has formed an LA based cable company called OWN (the Oprah Winfrey Network), which she formed with Discovery Communications. The launch date for OWN is January of 2011, and OWN should reach approximately 70 million homes.
So Oprah fans, relax. Oprah will have a similar type show a few months after she’s done with with her current run. Plus, she’s got $2 billion!!! I think she needs a bit of vacation time to spend it!
