New Moon

WOW!!!!

We knew the Twilight craze was big, but not this big!

The Twilight Saga: New Moon had a huge opening this weekend, pulling in an estimated $140.7 million at the domestic box office, and a $118.1 million overseas, for a total of $258.8 million worldwide!

That makes New Moon the third on the all-time list for domestic openings, behind The Dark Knight ($158.4 million), and Spider-man 3 ($151.1 million). New Moon also set the record for opening day at the domestic box office, earning $72.7 million on Friday.

This weeks number two movie, Warner Bros. football drama The Blind Side, took in an impressive $34.5 million. Last week’s number one, the disaster movie 2012, finished in third with a very respectable $26.5 million, bringing it’s domestic total to $108.2 million, and it’s worldwide total to $449.8 million.

Sony’s Planet 51 was fourth with $12.6 million, followed by Disney’s A Christmas Carol with $12.2 million.
